237 - How to sleep in PL/SQL

The DBMS_LOCK package provides an interface to Oracle Lock Management services. You can request a lock of a specific mode,
give it a unique name recognizable in another procedure in the same or another instance, change the lock mode, and release it.

When you writing code in PL/SQL , you some times need to have logics for the application to sleep
before the next processing.   In PL/SQL you can use the below syntax  for this Syntax
dbms_lock.sleep(no_of_seconds) :

225 - adrci (Automatic Diagnostic Repository Command Interpreter)

Starting with 11gR1, we have a new way to deal with Oracle Errors & Tracefiles: There is now a special command line utility
dedicated for that purpose called adrci.

This posting is intended to show you the (in my view) essential commands, a DBA ought to know in order to use it. We will look at

    1. Viewing the alert.log
    2. The relation between incident & problem
    3. Creation of Packages & ZIP files to send to Oracle Support
    4. Managing, especially purging tracefiles

Available Options :

185 - alter system flush shared_pool, buffer_cache

This command lets you clear all data from the shared pool in the system global area (SGA).
The shared pool stores Cached data dictionary information and Shared SQL and PL/SQL areas for SQL statements,
stored procedures, function, packages, and triggers. This statement does not clear shared SQL and PL/SQL areas for items
that are currently being executed. You can use this clause regardless of whether your instance has the database dismounted
or mounted, open or closed.

180 - Cancel a concurrent request in Oracle Apps

If you can not cancel a concurrent request in Oracle Apps Forms interface, you could use the following SQL to cancel the request.

* To check the request information.

SQL> select status_code, phase_code from fnd_concurrent_requests where request_id = <request ID>;

* Update the status.

173 - Change password for Oracle EBS

The password of "APPS", "APPLSYS" & "APPLSYSPUB" schemas can be changed by using the FNDCPASS utility.

To show its syntax is :

170 - Invalid object & compile script

1. Find invalid objects by SQL & Compile Command.

COLUMN object_name FORMAT A30
SELECT owner, object_type, object_name, status FROM dba_objects WHERE  status = 'INVALID' ORDER BY owner, object_type, object_name;

2. Compile Script for a lot of invalid objects

129 - How to send e-mail by Telnet

This explains how to use Telnet to test Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) communication between messaging servers. By default,
SMTP listens on port 25. If you use Telnet on port 25, you can enter the SMTP commands that are used to connect to an SMTP server
and send a message exactly as if your Telnet session was an SMTP messaging server. You can see the success or failure of each
step in the connection and message submission process.

125 - Delete oracle archive logs 11g

If you want to delete archivelogs, use these command to delete them in RMAN.

# rman target / nocatalog.

1. 7 days ago

RMAN> delete archivelog until time 'sysdate-7';

2. All archivelogs
