1. create or edit a file named "agentID.txt" in /etc/Navisphere.

2. Add the hostname and IP address lines as described above. This file should contain only these two lines, without formatting.


3. Save the agentID.txt file.

0 - 1023 : Well Known Ports
1024 - 49151 : Registered Ports
49152 - 65535 : Private service, Physical port

* Check the local port range.

1. Modify the configuration file directly :

The file-max file /proc/sys/fs/file-max sets the maximum number of file-handles that the Linux kernel will allocate.
We generally tune this file to improve the number of open files by increasing the value of /proc/sys/fs/file-max to
something reasonable like 256 for every 4M of RAM.

1.The command forces the limit to 200000 files.

1. View the main routing table with ip route show.

This is a known issue and it can be easily fix after reinstalling system.
All you have to do is login to RHN web management online and change it.

155 - Permanent hostname change on RedHat

RedHat based system use the file /etc/sysconfig/network to read the saved hostname at system boot.
This is set using the init script /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.

* Edit /etc/sysconfig/network


* After the change, restart the network server.
