118 - Disable Firewall on Linux Server

1. Redhat

Next enter the following three commands to disable firewall.

# service iptables save
# service iptables stop
# chkconfig iptables off

For IPv6

# service ip6tables save
# service ip6tables stop
# chkconfig ip6tables off

2. Ubuntu

# ufw disable

# ufw enable

UFW or Uncomplicated Firewall, is a text based firewall that works with  iptables.  UFW is designed to be an easier way
to manage a firewall from the command line.  Whether this is easier than learning iptables or not, you can decide. 
But UFW comes partially set up when you install Ubuntu.
